Jarramlee Nature Reserve

Jarramlee Nature Reserve, on the north-western border of the ACT, recently underwent extensive restoration. Fragmented by a decommissioned sewerage facility, the safety of the area was compromised, necessitating removal of infrastructure and rehabilitation. The restoration included constructing a swale for stormwater management, remediating subsidence areas, and restoring two hectares of degraded grassland with native species. The project also established a publicly accessible Ngunnawal interpretation garden. The landscape features a gravel track representing Ginninderra Creek, with breakout spaces depicting the land’s history and cultural significance. The restoration enhances biodiversity, habitat connectivity, and cultural connections, fostering a sustainable relationship with the environment
