Kalamunda is a unique place, rich in nature, cultures and stories. The Kalamunda Activity Centre Plan, supported by the Landscape Master Plan (the Plans) establishes a vision for the Kalamunda Town Centre. Clear direction has been established for each precinct. Haynes Street is the traditional main street for the town and is alive with diversity of trading and social experiences. The Plans for Haynes Street seek to build on this experience, encourage greater activation and support sustainable evolution of the main street.
The brief for the Haynes Street Design Services naturally requires the technical challenges to be addressed and workable solutions developed. The brief also clearly indicates the need to establish an evocative narrative for the street.
This street has served the community for a century and will take the Town forward as it is revitalised through the implementation of the Plans. Haynes Street is the glue that holds the surrounding precincts together. The upgrade to the Street provides opportunities to create journeys through the Town Centre and connect key places such as the Central Mall, Barber Street Piazza and the Town Square.
