The Wilson Park Precinct Masterplan re-imagines a weary civic precinct into the new ‘Front and Back Yard’ of the suburb Rivervale. PLACE Laboratory worked closely with the key community groups, residents and the City of Belmont to realise a creative solution that would connect the separate programmes of the precinct through a considered and thoughtful landscape driven solution.

Satisfied with the Masterplanning process, all stakeholders approved the progression of stage 1 design development. The Concept introduces a bold linear ‘Heart’ that aims to breathe new life into the Precinct. The ‘Heart’ acts as an exciting and vibrant community space that includes a new playground, town square, as well as new play elements such as a pump track and climbing wall. Thematically the design aims to reconnect people to the precinct’s rich historic and environmental context through creative visual and physical interventions that are fun and playful, welcoming families, children and other local residents to visit and linger in the park.
