Award winners at 2019 AILA WA Awards Night

We were thrilled to accept the Infrastructure Award at the 2019 AILA WA Landscape Architecture Awards for Curtin Bicycle Hub and Creative Quarter!

More about the project:

“Curtin Creative Quarter is undergoing an exciting new upgrade within the Bentley campus through a series of design interventions and facilities that provide much needed activation and energy to the Southern part of the campus. The large open space shaded with magnificent mature Pine Trees and framed  by the Faculties of Engineering Humanities and Arts now includes shaded communal seating areas, a games court with basketball tree, and timber decks for hanging out on beanbags. The space also includes a converted 40ft Shipping Container that serves as an outdoor Art Gallery to showcase student work. A new state of the art Cycle Hub is also provided and designed in collaboration with Coniglio Ainsworth Architects.

The Cycle Hub  provides secure storage for up-to 200 bikes, End of Trip Facilities (showers and toilets) and a roof deck  and garden which can be accessed via a sloping lawn embankment. The iconic architectural expression signals a commitment by the university to prioritise cycling and public transport as means of transport to the campus.”
