West Basin is one of the main water bodies of the Lake Burley Griffin, and home to some major cultural and educational institutions, including National Museum of Australia and National University of Australia.

Situated on the northern foreshore of the West Bain, Acton Waterfront is envisaged to become a mixed-use development and a magnet of public life. A large foreshore park, approximately 55m wide, extends across the entire development site, will provide diverse recreational opportunities for local Canberrans and tourists.
