Collaborating with TPG, JCY and New York based PPS, PLACE Laboratory developed a long-term activation plan to transform the lifeless cultural precinct into an active urban place. The plan focuses on making the precinct a vibrant ‘knuckle’ between the City and Northbridge, a 24-hour place that invites and stimulates people to stay and interact whilst fostering an urban atmosphere.

We defined the precinct as a series of places, each with their own distinct character and programming. Special attention went to opening up the buildings and revealing the indoor programs to the outside. The plan is purposefully kept flexible, to maintain relevance during future developments.
