The recently completed Lakelands Town Centre has become the new community hub for residents of the PEET estate, providing a diverse mix of retail and lifestyle offerings structured around an activated Main Street and pedestrian orientated shared space environment.
Stage 1 of the development comprises three anchors, speciality shops, a gym, food and beverage outlets, service station, town square and car parking.
A key component of the Town Centre is the centrally and strategically located Town Square which will form the ‘heart’ of the centre, becoming the focus of community activities and providing a space for people to meet, socialise and be entertained. PLACE Laboratory played an instrumental role in the design for the Town Centre to met the needs of the diverse range of stakeholders and user groups with a focus on pedestrian and community experience and providing flexibility in how the Square can be programmed with events and activities including markets, stalls, parades and festivals.
