PLACE Laboratory has transformed a once hard and uninviting space into a welcoming forecourt connecting St. George’s Terrace to the iconic Central Park open space.

The main feature is an elegant stone staircase that extends the width of the Central Park Tower street frontage, seamlessly integrated with a universal access ramp. The geometry of the stair is contrasted with a play on colour, generous stone planters which morph into urban couches, and lush gardens.

The composition of the elements creates a variety of spaces for informal sitting, meeting or simply passing through.

A close collaboration with architect, Woods Bagot, achieved a blurring between the inside and outside resulting in a green city oasis.  This project showcases our ability to deliver excellence, even in situations with the most complex site constraints.
